Today's gardening session with Dr Koh is about how to propagate Cryptanthus sp.

Basically, all we need to do is separate the offsets from the parent plant.

Just make sure the offset is about 10-20cm in height, if it's too small then the chance of survival is quite low or it takes a very very long time to establish.

This is Cryptanthus 'Pink Starlight'

This is Cryptanthus fosterianas 'Black Mood' a native plant of Brazil
The white patterns are actually trichomes (furry-like structure on leaf blades). The patterns are caused by genetic variations. Looks like a zebra to me!=D
